Computed Dental Radiography In our
continuing efforts to provide you with the highest quality care, we
are among the first general dental practices in the area trained and
equipped to offer this new service. Computed Dental Radiography, or
CDR, is a better alternative to the traditional X-ray machine.
Using computer technology, it enables us to generate large,
sharp, radiographic images of your teeth within seconds while
exposing you to 90 percent less radiation than traditional film
X-rays. For our staff, CDR eliminates contact with chemicals used in
the processing of traditional X-rays, as well as the issue of
disposal of these chemicals -- a plus for the
environment
How it works A sterile sensor
is placed in your mouth which works much like a miniature video
camera, transmitting an image to a computer in one to two seconds.
No waiting in the chair for film to be processed! Once the image is
on the computer screen it can be magnified for more precise viewing,
highlighted in color, stored on disk, or printed out for you if you
want to take copies home or need them for insurance purposes. Most
importantly, imaging allows us to show you problem areas and discuss
treatment.
Summary CDR is safer than X-rays,
faster, and results in better images, making it a more effective
diagnostic tool. CDR is truly a major advancement in the field of
dentistry! We look forward to sharing it with you. |
